On any given day,
over 20,000 children are in Texas’ foster care system. In Their Shoes offers an unprecedented look into the journey of the children, parents, caseworkers, and officials who are part of this often faceless system.
It tells this sprawling story from deeply personal perspectives: the teenage girl reconnecting with her biological parents; the couple anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first foster child; and the grandmother who suddenly becomes the sole caretaker of five grandchildren, forever changing the course of her life.
What emerges is an unflinching exploration of hope, resilience, and the enduring power of human connection. In Their Shoes is a story of family and what binds us together, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
Middle East & US Correspondent
Cadena SER
Cadena SER is the largest radio network in Spain.
Between 2015 and 2017, I was the Middle East correspondent based in Beirut, Lebanon. I traveled across the region to report on the Syrian Civil War as well as the takeover of large areas by ISIS, and the gathering of an international coalition to expel them.
I also produced pieces that shed light into the complex and nuanced sociopolitical context of Lebanon and the region, talking to political and business leaders and people from all backgrounds to provide the Spanish audience with an understanding of the historical events unfolding there.
Later, in the US, I covered two presidential elections and other local stories in New York City and across the country.
